What is Next.js?

Next.js is a JavaScript framework based on React.js. It was originally developed by Guillermo Rauch in 2016 and is tightly associated with Vercel, which maintains the framework.

Next.js' Features

Pros:

• Static site generation that serves static html pages on build
• Simplified routing, which some developers love
• Very large community and excellent support
• Excellent UX
• Backed by a major company as maintainer and very stable
• Great for SEO (over React) because of server-side rendering

Cons:

• Simplified routing, which some developers hate (yes, it's something you either love or you hate)
• Considered too opinionated by some
• It may be too complex for small projects
• The learning curve can be steep
